It is the application that leaves the screens. These are interactive stories where, to move forward, children between 4 and 8 years old are invited to suggest solutions to a challenge. The solutions must be carried out outside the app and integrated via the camera connected to the app. All the solutions make it possible to move forward in history and each of them
modifies the course of history . At the end of each story, all the solutions provided by the little ones are put together to give the children even more ideas. How did you start the project? 3 years ago. Emmanuelle, my partner, launched a first version of the application as part of the start up week competition organized by ADN Startup in Bordeaux, where Dipongo won the first prize. She then developed the project and looked for an illustrator a few months later. I completed the duo shortly after. We decided to embark on the project because as mothers, we realized the impact of screens on our children. We also found this observation in

the literature. German pediatrician Peter Winterstein conducted a study to assess the consequences of spending too much time in front of screens passively, such as watching TV. In his study, he found that children who spend too much time in front of screens have a considerable reduction in their creativity. The instructions were very simple: draw a man. As shown in the image above, the children who reported spending 3 hours in front of the screens drew “strictly necessary”. Indeed, without a model to follow or with few instructions, they cannot imagine beyond the “guy”. They therefore lacked imagination and analytical skills to go into details.
While children spending 45 minutes a day in front of screens added much more detail to their drawing. On this basis, we wanted Dipongo to teach children to use digital technology actively. In addition to the creative notebook and the stories, they receive an educational manual on how to approach the stories of the month as well as tips on how to set up creative workshops with their students. At the end of the stories, children have access to pictures of other people’s ideas. A recurring concern of parents is the use of photos taken by children and more particularly of what they see on the internet. How do you manage image sharing between children? Dipongo does not use images. Sharing does not happen directly from one child to another.
At the end of each story, what the little ones will see is a gallery with the solutions imagined by other children. The images that appear in this gallery are filtered with AI and then the filter is tuned by hand to make sure there are no images disturbing e s for children. What impact has the health crisis had on Dipongo? Before the Covid, our business model was purely B to B. 99% of turnover came from the sale of application licenses in the tourism sector (eg museums) in order to improve the family experience of these structures. For individuals, the application was nevertheless available for free download with some stories also available for free. Our idea was to develop B to C in 2022 but always keeping B to B as our main
